About the Forest Preserve District

The mission of the Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is: to maintain and acquire lands with the intent to restore and conserve such lands for the purpose of preservation, education and recreation for its residents with fiscal responsibility.

Our vision: To be a leader in natural resource management that connects nature and wildlife with people  through recreation and education.

The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is governed by the Forest Preserve Commission. Today the Rock Island County Forest Preserve Commission governs six forest preserve areas totaling 2,529 acres.
